Hi there,
My name is Aileen and like the majority of my fellow travelers I am going to be a second-year pharmacy student. There are several reasons for why I chose to join this trip. First, one item on my bucket list is to fill a passport and this was a chance to collect a few stamps. Second, I have always wanted to visit Thailand in particular for the sights, culture, and cuisine. Third, I signed up for this trip early in my first year while I still didn't know my classmates very well, so I thought traveling with this group might help me get to know some of them better. Lastly and most importantly, when else would I have such an excellent opportunity to learn about international pharmacy? It's one thing to read and hear about but another to actually visit and meet others who practice pharmacy in another country. I really look forward to learning about any similarities and differences between our hospitals, pharmacies, and curriculum and those in Thailand. I also look forward to meeting the students at Chulalongkorn and Mahidol Universities and bonding over the struggle that is pharmacy school 😄. What I don't look forward to are the mosquitos since I always get eaten alive whenever I go to the Philippines, which has a similarly wet and warm climate. Aside from that, I have no major concerns - just excitement!
