Wow I can't believe its only been 4 days in Bangkok... it feels like we have been here for over a week. The days are pretty jammed back with actives non stop and its hard to get a second in to breathe and relax. I feel like I have already seen so much of the city in a couple days.
Today we visited the largest hospital in Thailand and it basically looked like a spa. It was so interesting learning about Traditional Thai Medicine that incorporates and lot of herbal and natural remedies. I think in the U.S., pharmacy is so focused on synthetic drugs that most Americans do not believe in these methods as actual medicine. My perspective and outlook was greatly changed after spending the day here. We made a natural inhaler from herbs and camphor that ultimately smelled like vicks in my opinion. After the visit with the hospital we went to Parliament which was amazing but no phones were allowed inside to take pictures. I never figured out why but I guess my mind will have to suffice for storage. We went to a high end jewelry shop and custom tailor suit shop after. Both were pretty pricey for my trip's budget but relatively good costs when comparing these to prices in the states. Lastly, we ended the night in Asiatique and met some more students from the Thailand school of pharmacy who were all so sweet and funny. The Thai students ordered for the entire table and we got about 10 dishes for everyone to share and there was still leftovers. The food was amazing and by far some of the best meals I have had here but it was very expensive. We were told to paid 1,000 baht each which took us by surprise since how the meals were being accumulated was never discussed. So it kind of ended the night on a sour note and most of us were pretty bummed to have dropped so much money in one day but I guess that's vacationing. For now... I guess its water for lunch. ;)
Can't wait for more adventures in Thailand!
Love your travel bug,
Nina
